The Lion and Sun movement is a contemporary movement advocating for a free, secular, and self-determined Iran, emerging through recent waves of anti-regime resistance and collective uprising. This series is deeply influenced by the events and atmosphere surrounding this movement. Through them, I draw on the mostly emotional force of these moments to explore themes of trauma, resilience, and the longing for liberation of my home country Iran.
As the Iranian government continues to use lethal force, scare tactics and internet shut-downs in hopes of suppressing this revolution, support from the global community becomes more important than ever.
Let’s stand with the courageous women of Iran and amplify their voices as they demand basic human rights.
